The purpose of this online course is to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to conduct an internal food safety audit against any GFSI-approved food safety standard. This course introduces participants to all aspects of internal auditing and one’s role in implementing the organization’s auditing policies and procedures. It is appropriate for individuals working across all management systems.
On successful completion of this course, participants will obtain the knowledge on how to:
- Describe how internal food safety audits contribute to the maintenance and improvement of Food Safety Management Systems
- Identify the key elements of audit schedules and audit plans
- Develop an audit checklist
- Conduct an internal food safety audit and gather objective evidence
- Classify non-conformities as Major, Minor, Critical or as an Opportunity for improvement
- Develop an Audit Report
- Identify the best practices for ensuring your internal audits are a success
Upon completion of assessments, participants will receive the below TPECS competency unit which is certified by Exemplar Global.
This online course does NOT have any pre-requisite units for entry.
This course is suitable for food industry personnel intending to become involved in the internal audit process for the maintenance and improvement of their food safety program and is ideal for management and personnel who have had at least 4 years experience in the food industry. We recommend that participants have completed at least a 1 day HACCP course or the online HACCP Refresher course. The course has some literacy and numeracy requirements involved. Access to a workplace is required for the completion of post course assessment activities.

As an accredited course, this course contains assessment requirements. The course contains a series of online activities designed to reinforce the key skills and knowledge outcomes. It also has an online knowledge quiz at the end of the course and post course assessment requirements.

How do I access my certificate?
Your Certificate of Achievement will be sent to you on completion of the course. If the course has a Statement or a Certificate of Attainment you will be emailed this as a pdf on successful completion of all course assessment requirements. This will take up to 28 days once attainment of the relevant units of competency is confirmed by the assessor.

How long will the online course take to complete?
Approximately 4 to 6 hours excluding assessment requirements.
How long does it take to complete the post-course assessment requirements?
Most students take between 20 to 30 hours to complete post course assessment requirements over a 6 month period. If you need longer than this you can apply for a 6 month extension. Contact customer support for further information or to apply for an extension.
What are the IT requirements?
Students will need access to a computer with an internet connection. This course is compatible with tablets. Windows users should have access to Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10. Browsers that can be used include: IE10, IE11, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari.
How long will students have access for the course?
You will have access to the course for 12 months from purchase. If you have not completed the course within the 12 month period please contact us to arrange a three month extension of course access.
